PDX Permitting/Development Advisory Groups

Portland Permitting & Development (PP&D) manages building permits, land use, inspections, code enforcement, and public works permits to ensure our built environment is safe and accessible. The following Advisory Groups regularly need community volunteers.

Adjustment Committee

The Adjustment Committee reviews adjustment requests to the development standards of Title 33 [Planning and Zoning Regulations].

Building Code Board of Appeal

Cannabis Policy Oversight Team (CPOT)

The Building Code Board of Appeal hears appeals of building code issues which are appealed beyond the Administrative Appeals Board.

The Cannabis Policy Oversight Team (CPOT) is an advisory body that provides Portland Permitting & Development with diverse stakeholder perspectives on cannabis-related public policies.

Demolition Subcommittee and Task Force

The DRAC Demolition Subcommittee and Task Force was formed to address issues regarding residential demolitions in the City.

Design Commission

The Design Commission provides leadership and expertise on urban design and architecture and advances the purpose of the Design overlay zone.

Development Review Advisory Committee

The Development Review Advisory Committee (DRAC) is a community advisory body, representing those with interests in the outcome of policies, budgets, regulations, and procedures that affect development review processes.

Electrical Code Board of Appeal

The Electrical Code Board of Appeal considers requests of permit applicants who challenge decisions of the Administrative Board of Appeals relating to the application of electrical codes.

Historic Landmarks Commission

The Historic Landmarks Commission provides leadership and expertise on maintaining and enhancing Portland’s historic and architectural heritage.

Mechanical Code Board of Appeal

The Mechanical Board of Appeal determines the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction and provides for reasonable interpretations of the provisions of the Mechanical Code.

Noise Review Board

This volunteer advisory board works to improve neighborhood livability by striking a balance between sound-generating activities related to construction, special events, and other issues, and the desire for livable communities.

Noise Review Board PIR Subcommittee

The Noise Review Board’s Portland International Raceway (PIR) Subcommittee is tasked with further understanding the PIR’s noise impacts and exploring possible solutions to address noise-related community concerns.

Plumbing Code Board of Appeal

The Plumbing Code Board of Appeal considers requests of permit applicants who challenge decisions of the Administrative Board of Appeals relating to the application of plumbing codes.

PP&D Budget Advisory Committee (BAC)

The Budget Advisory Committee evaluates Portland Permitting & Development’s budget request using the City’s budget directions, the Bureau’s financial resources, and customer needs. The committee then presents recommendations to the Portland Permitting & Development Director.

PP&D Financial Advisory Committee

Portland Permitting & Development’s Financial Advisory Committee has continued to meet each year to review and discuss financial projections and financial modeling methodology as part of the budget planning process.

Process Improvement & Technology Subcommittee

The Process Improvement & Technology Subcommittee is a citizen advisory committee, comprised of approximately 12 members who represent a variety of interests.

River Community Advisory Committee

The River Community Advisory Committee is comprised of six members who represent a variety of floating structures interests.

Structural Engineering Advisory Committee

The Structural Engineering Advisory Committee is appointed by the Mayor and consists of three members and three alternates licensed in Oregon to practice structural engineering.
