Let’s talk about drinking water

Portland drinking water town hall
Commissioner Mingus Mapps and the Portland Water Bureau invite everyone who uses Portland’s drinking water to attend a virtual Town Hall about lead in drinking water from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9
This is an opportunity for the community to hear information from the Water Bureau and Commissioner Mapps and for the bureau to hear concerns and to answer questions. Register for the Portland drinking water town hall

Our strongest tool yet for reducing lead at the tap
Construction of Improved Corrosion Control Treatment is nearing completion and the team is turning their efforts to testing and startup to bring the new system online. Beginning April 2022, the new facilities will adjust the chemistry of Portland’s drinking water to make our water less corrosive to lead and other metals found in some home and building plumbing.  Watch the video

Feed me (native plants), Seymour!
Yes, it’s that time of year when it looks like it’s 4pm all day long, but soon our gloomy landscape will burst to life as trees and flowers bloom magnificent colors. Maybe skip the Venus Fly Traps this year though, okay?  Check out our guide to native plant sale season

Washington Park: we’ll be back
We’re finished with the first major phase of our Washington Park Reservoir Improvement Project, and now we wait as the soil settles into place. But we will be back. We’ll return in 2024 to install the reflecting pool and interpretive elements, restore the historic resources, and open the area to the public for the first time in decades.  Read the update

If so, pass this opportunity along. We’re looking for students in our area to make short, fun videos about their passion for clean drinking water and rivers.
