From Chief of Police Robert Day:
Dear Partners,
As Chief of Police, I understand that maintaining the public’s trust is paramount and that is why I am writing to alert you to the opportunity to play an active role in ensuring accountability and transparency in the Portland Police Bureau. The establishment of the Community Board for Police Accountability is an essential step toward building stronger, more open relationships between law enforcement and the people we serve.
The Community Board for Police Accountability offers community members the chance to engage directly in oversight of law enforcement practices, policies, and directives, and impose discipline if deemed appropriate. Your voice matters, and through this board, you will have the chance to influence the future of policing in our community.
If you are interested in serving on the board or learning more about the application process, please visit https://www.portland.gov/ocpa/recruitment. Applications are due by 5pm on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in making Portland a better place for all of us. Together, we can build a stronger, more unified community.
Thanks,
Bob
