Parks & Natural Areas

Parks and Natural Areas Emerging Workplan

Portland Heights Park – Located on the Northwest corner of SW Old Orchard Road and SW Patton Road, adjacent to the old Strohecker’s grocery store, along Vista TriMet Bus Route #51.

Governors Park – SWHRL members have cleared invasive English Ivy off every tree in  Governors Park – all six acres of them. We are now working with Parks and Recreation staff to  clear invasive – and explosively flammable – English Holly, English Hawthorne, and laurels from the park. Maha Guliani, ecologist at PP&R, has plans to replant with natives and restore a  riparian area. SWHRL will call for volunteers for further ivy removal and other work when needed.
